Frank.. Frankie... Frankenstein..!

Assalamu Alaikum my dear reader friends!! I've been so intrigued to write a post on this wonder novel, "Frankenstein" , written by Mary Shelley in 1818. I came across this absorbing article in The New Yorker , which was published to honour the bicentennial of this globally acclaimed book "Frankenstein" . [Thank you Dr. Anwar for sharing with us the article @Readers' Rendezvous ]. The article speaks of the motif behind the emergence and the reign of the novel, which has triggered criticism of many sorts, all these years. Being a scholar who's got "a nose for the new!", I couldn't resist but buy myself a copy of this critically devoured novel. I live in a society, where lifestyle is booming with speed, valour, friendship, and a serendipity of mixed emotions. I had to go through a very long process of preparation mentally and physically to pull myself into Chennai's sizzling chromosphere!  Well, as usual I take my long evening walks inside our housing society, where I presume I have a lot of space for myself to be "me". I quietly love the experience!! Of peekabooing through the canopies and listening to the endless arpeggios of the Cuckoo.. Additionally, what enhances my s...

Croods, Creeds, and Charismatic Leaders

Assalamu Alaikum dear reader friends..! The recent tremors in the society, here in Tamil Nadu, does leave us--the citizens of India, in a distressful blind-spot. When brothers and sisters of our society bleed to death, we sit here in front of our idiot boxes, tuning into various possible channels to find something new about those vengeful corporate hoaxes. It really is a heart-wrenching disaster, when you can't help but just be one among the silent-observers of this murderous mayhem. We never know the origins or the undercurrents associated with this STERLITE CONSPIRACY that has been a harbinger of all this chaos, recently.. Yet, the consequent killings that had to yield more than ten innocent lives does leave an incurable scar, on our social as well as our cultural history. It is our cultural CREEDS or the belief systems, that's being challenged in this situation today. We, as the underestimated lot, the CROODS who need to refine our thought processes towards our creeds,...
